Barb Blind is an Anishinaabe knowledge keeper and emerging artist living and working in Brandon MB. She is a member of the Sweet Medicine Singers Women’s Drum Group, and has performed at many local events. She has participated in various performance art collaborations with Peter Morin in Brandon and North Bay, Ont. Her other artistic mediums include beading, ribbon skirt making, drum-making and rattle-making. She implements various workshops within the community of Brandon on art-making, Indigenous knowledge and ceremony. She has played a significant role as the Grandmother-in-Residence for the Department of Visual and Aboriginal at Brandon University (Iskaabatens Waasa Gaa Inaabateg – Little Smoke that Goes Far). Blind refers to herself as “an inappropriate, culturally and politically- incorrect knowledge keeper.”
